Exfoliation Explained

Regular exfoliation is key to getting + maintaining beautifully clear, radiant skin.

What is Exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It keeps our skin from looking rough, flaky and dry, so it's pretty important.
Why is Exfoliation Important?
When we don’t exfoliate, those dead skin cells can lead to an excess of oil, clogged pores, ingrown hairs and breakouts. No one wants that.
What's the Best Way to Exfoliate?
It depends. There are a couple of ways to look and feel great—and we have a solution for all skin types.
EWC products are packed with a ton of exfoliating ingredients. Here are a few to look for:

Glycolic acid

Jojoba beads

Naturally derived fruit enzymes like papaya + pineapple

Salicylic acid

We also have a limited-edition exfoliating mitt set to use in conjunction with you favorite EWC products. These dual-sized, dual-sided mitts are great for physical exfoliation, making it easy to target specific areas or to get all-over coverage.

Use the mitts to put an end to dull, flaky skin!

Exfoliate with the cotton side for gentle, daily use and the nylon side for a deeper scrub.

Clear away old cells and impurities to help prevent ingrown hairs.

Prep skin for optimal product application with clear, open pores.

Exfoliation Tip #1:
Try our EWC TREAT ™ Face & Body Exfoliating Gel to eliminate dry, dull skin and rejuvenate that gorgeous complexion.

How it works: Apply a thin layer on clean, dry skin. Gently massage in a circular motion until you see little bits of gel and dead skin begin to form. Then rinse well with water. Use it before and after waxing and at least 3 times a week.
Exfoliation Tip #2:
For fresh, radiant skin, use our EWC TREAT™ Ingrown Hair Wipes. Formulated with powerful exfoliators, they’re gentle enough for all skin types. These wipes also contain narcissus bulb extract, which naturally helps slow hair regrowth.

How it works: Wipe the pad gently over skin. Use daily to help prevent ingrown hairs or twice a day to treat existing breakouts.
Exfoliation Tip #3:
Our EWC product lines include both physical and chemical exfoliants. Our EWC SLOW™ Aloe Body Wash contains jojoba beads for physical exfoliation, while our EWC TREAT™ Ingrown Hair Serum includes all-natural glycolic acid for chemical exfoliation.

How it works: Work a small amount of the wash into a lather and massage over wet skin.

When skin is dry, apply the serum daily to help prevent ingrown hairs, or twice a day to treat existing breakouts—especially right after waxing.
